It has the advantage of beautiful beaches, hinterland to explore and it also offers a small town feel that has made it a favourite destination for many people.

The area of Nambucca Heads is well known as a surfing location.  If you are an experienced surfer then you can go and enjoy the waves but if you are a beginner you can find an outfit with people that will show you the ropes.  There are all kinds of other water sports available, and you can rent out a variety of different watercraft.  There are even snorkelling and diving options to be enjoyed.

Despite its small size, there are a number of shops that are worth a look.  The Nambucca Valley Historical Museum is not only an interesting place to see, but there is also a gift shop there where you can find some excellent souvenirs.  Seeking out the Headland Museum will also be an enjoyable trip.

Plan to stop in at the Pub With No Beer Brewery.  Contrary to its name, there are a number of good beers available here and it is one of the most famous breweries in the area.  They also have a nice patio where you can enjoy a meal.

Nature lovers will have a great time on the John Davies Rainforest Walk.  There are a few different paths depending on how long you want to walk for, but each of them will bring you close to the flora and fauna of the region.  You will also see and hear a number of the colourful birds that are found there, so make sure to remember your camera when you embark on this trip.

The beaches here are known to be very clean and it is said that the sand even squeaks beneath your feet it is so pristine.  The water is also clean and perfect for swimming.  To make a complete day at the beach you can take advantage of picnic areas and barbecues that are free for use.  One of the best things about the beaches here is that they are often not crowded.

It only takes a short while to drive to the Nambucca Valley from Coffs Harbour.  The route along the Pacific Highway is also picturesque, so not only is the destination enjoyable but the drive is as well.
