One of the nice things about traveling from Coffs Harbour to Port Macquarie is the drive.  Along the Pacific Highway, it will only take about two hours and twenty minutes.  The drive itself will be full of sites, and you will pass through places like Kempsey, Frederickton, Macksville and Nambucca Heads.  Any of these would make a great place to stop and enjoy a meal as you are passing through.  You may even choose to take more than a day and stop in one of them for the night.

When you get to Port Macquarie, there are plenty of things to do.  Of course, being on the North Coast you can find some excellent beaches where you can relax in the sunshine.  There are also plenty of small cafes that are close to the water and offer a memorable dining experience.  You can also take some food down to the beach and enjoy a picnic there.

For people who enjoy nature, there are many options here.  There are tour operators like Gondwana 4WD and Fishing Tours that will take you on a number of different treks through the area.  Whether you want to explore the coast or see the hinterland they have something for you.  You can even ask them to take you on a wine tour of the area.

Particularly if you are bringing children along, a stop at the Koala Hospital is in order.  This is a place that cares for injured Koalas, and you can go in and see the inhabitants.  It will be a memorable experience for anyone, and the children will appreciate the work that they do.

If you are into water sports, then a trip to Stoney Park will satisfy your desires.  Not only can you participate yourself on a pair of man-made lakes, but you can watch the pros in action as they perform all kinds of tricks on the permanent rails in the water.  If you are a beginner, they have staff there that can instruct you and will have you up and skiing in no time.  It’s a great way to enjoy a trip to Port Macquarie coming from Coffs Harbour.
